12/23/2010 - Local Flight

During August, middle Georgia experienced very hot weather, combined with clouds and low ceilings. There were a few days that would have been pleasant to fly, but for one reason or another, I missed them. Most days the ceilings were too low for VFR, or it was so miserable hot I did not care to get in an airplane. I scheduled flights several times, only to cancel the flight due to low ceilings on the appointed day. August 31st I was able to get a local flight in the books.
Having no real plan to fly off anywhere, I decided a training mission was in order, so I practiced some air work (tight turns, turns around a point, stalls, slow flight, and a few cross-wind landings at Perry- Houston County (PXE).
While in the southern end of the practice area, I noticed some puffy white cumulus clouds building South of me and at the same altitude. Climbing to 3000 feet, I headed South and got a couple of good pics of the puffy white cumulus below me. Clouds are fascinating, every one different, unique in shape. I flew lazily around the area for a few minutes just enjoying the beautiful sites below.
